Listing Best Practices

Metadata, media and copy that turns views into installs

Two listings with identical products can convert very differently. These are the levers that move installs and revenue most.

Title

  • •Lead with what it does, not a clever name: "ClipboardAI — paste anything, formatted" beats "ClipboardAI".
  • •Keep it under ~40 characters so it isn't truncated in grids.
  • •Don't keyword‑stuff; discovery penalizes it.

Description

Structure it so a skimmer gets value in five seconds:

  1. •One‑line hook — the outcome the buyer gets.
  2. •3–5 bullet features — benefits, not internals.
  3. •Who it's for — the ideal user.
  4. •What's new — pulled from your latest release notes.

Write for the buyer's problem, not your architecture. "Turns a 2‑hour reconciliation into 2 minutes" outperforms "Uses a fine‑tuned transformer."

Media

  • •Icon: 512×512, high contrast, legible at 48px. No screenshots‑as‑icons.
  • •Screenshots: at least 3, showing real UI and outcomes. Annotate the first one — it's your hero image.
  • •Demo: a 15–30s clip lifts conversion more than any other single asset.

Categories & tags

Pick the most specific category that fits, and add accurate tags. Wrong categories get fewer, worse‑converting views and can trigger review rejections.

Pricing presentation

  • •Anchor value before price in the description.
  • •For subscriptions, show the monthly figure and the annual discount.
  • •Free tier or trial? Say so in the first line — it's a strong install driver.

Pre‑launch checklist

  • • Title states the outcome
  • • Description skimmable in 5 seconds
  • • Icon legible at 48px, ≥3 real screenshots, ideally a demo clip
  • • Correct category + accurate tags
  • • Pricing and trial clearly stated
  • • Verified badge in progress (Verification)
